I'm a bicycling poet who lived in Parker for several years and worked at YourHub.com, covering Parker and Franktown for two years.

I am studying poetry at CSU in the Master of Fine Arts program ...

Painting? Cross that off-- no, not yet...

On my little list of things I want to do, I have written "Paint the Tower."

No, I'm not talking about a physical tower, but rather a painting based off of a Tarot of Mermaids card called the Tower.

Last weekend, I was very excited that my father had rescued all my art supplies (from 1999) from storage in his Parker home. I poured over the few old sketches and the many painting books I had accumulated, thanks to my grandmother, who painted in oils for decades.

I was amazed at everything I forgot I had done as a senior in high school and then during the year after I graduated, when my family moved from Grand Junction to Parker and I chose to work for a year.

When I sketched the image of the Queen of Wands, another tarot card that has long caught my eye, a few weeks ago, I thought I was ready to take on oil paints again.

Well, my hour of work last weekend says otherwise. What do you think?

Hello Andi and Stephanie. Thanks for commenting. I woke up with an idea for this painting-- I could paint it from another perspective. I could paint it from behind, from on the shore, with the lighthouse in the background. And maybe I will show a hint of a mermaid falling from the lighthouse. Much more landscape.

Ummmm, Tabitha.... Remember that blog I wrote titled "Don't Quit Your Day Job"? Just kidding, looks like you have some talent. Why don't you take an art class for some summer fun! The local colleges will probably offer something like that. Everyone should have a hobby. Andi

I love art supplies...I just can't draw or paint. :)
