Wave pools, hummers, omelets and aspen

It's been more than two weeks since I last blogged. So let's get on with it.

Wave pools: One of the highlights of my trip to Germany was the wave pool we visited. It was almost two stories of salt-watery fun, full of many different pools. One pool hosted powerful artificial waves once every hour (exhausting but fun, once you learned how not to fight the waves). Another pool was both indoor and outdoor (it was raining and cold when Alexand I swam out there).

Our favorite diversion at Piraten Meer was the water slide, which records your speed and your time.

Hummers: Last weekend, Alex and I met up with Steveat the mountain home he and his family built in South Park, Colo. He and his father once counted about 30 hummingbirds on their back porch, where there were six hummingbird feeders last weekend, Aug. 19 and 20. We counted about half that many hummers and they were a sight to see and a sound to behold.

I never saw a hummer so close and so still as I did at the mountain home.

Alex managed to get one to land on his finger after he rested his finger on the edge of a feeder. We tried to replicate the feat for a photo, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Omelets: Steve's mother learned a new omelet recipe, great for campers. You'll just have to look through the photos I've posted to get the recipe. And please share your recipes.

Aspen: I love aspen. There are many, many of them up at the mountain home. Please enjoy the photos.
