Yes, it's true.
I used to be very afraid of
Santa Claus. I would freeze like an icicle as soon as he was in sight in the mall.
Thankfully, 20 or so years later, I'm not afraid any more. On Dec. 4 at the Parker Library, I got to meet him for myself. It was something I was looking forward to -I bragged about getting to meet him to anyone who would listen.
And now I have inside information on the jolly old elf. He told everyone visiting him this morning that his sleigh and his reindeer are a regulation aircraft, parked at Denver International Airport while he hung out at the library.
We also learned that his reindeer need brussel sprouts to fly. Santa explained that reindeer have a chemical reaction to them that goes to their antlers, allowing them to travel by air.
Santa said he has 7,745 elves at the North Pole. He asked us how he could possibly keep track of the names of so many elves. A computer for all their names was a good guess as was the suggestion that Santa used name tags.
But Santa names each elf based on the jobs that they do. He mentioned Handle Bar and Spoke ...
For my sake, I hope Colored Pencils and Bicycle Basket are doing excellent work this year.
Santa will be back at the Parker Library Dec. 14 at 10 a.m., Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Call the library at 303-791-7323 to reserve your space.
