The ants go marching ...

Spring has sprung! Know how I know? There are ants marching across the countertop in my kitchen, my nose is dripping like a faucet from seasonal allergies, and the kids want to play outside until dark.

After the weird winter and a long recovery from surgery, I'm really looking forward to summer weather. Not the bikini-wearing, traipsing to the swimming pool every day, going to the park in one-hundred degree temps kind of summer. I would rather stick a fork in my eye.

Nope, I'm talking about the lazy days alone with my computer in the air-conditioned house, while the kids are out in the back yard playing ball and fighting for the best shovel in the sandbox.

We were thinking of sending the oldest to adventure camp. There is no way he is sitting in the basement this summer. He already blinks a lot in bright sunlight and his favorite clothing choiceis black. He needs some fresh air and some hiking and maybe some rock climbing. I don't care if he is afraid of heights. He's going. Of course, we'll have to balance camp with driving school. Yes, my 15-year old, Austin, is just itching to get behind the wheel of the minivan.

Jett, is going to start soccer or t-ball, soon. Do they have golf for 4-year olds? He can already drive the ball about 200 yards. Everything he learned, he learned from Happy Gilmore. His golf swing makes grown men jealous.

And Chase, the 2-year old, well his big job this summer is potty training because he goes to preschool in August. Didn't Superman just call Jett about potty training? Guess Elmo will be calling our house, soon. Or perhaps it will be Scooby-Doo this time.

Speaking of dogs. Who let the dog out? Oh yes, the dog can stay out until dark. Of course, she's lonely out there. Our elder dog Teddy passed away last month. One down, one to go. Of course, I'm kidding. Kinda.

Yes, Spring is here. How many Peeps can you fit into your mouth? The record at our house is four.

Bring on the summer, baby! Did I mention that come August, I will have about three hours a day to myself?

Nice to see you back!

I'm just a sap I know, but I hate it when my kids aren't around. My youngest started school this year. I adjusted by getting a dog and bringing one child home to school. I'll have to try again sometime. That is, after I homeschool my other son next year... and maybe the highschooler the year after that...

My boys used to like to watch the peeps expand in the microwave. Condolences on the loss of your doggie...congrats on the upcoming gain of three hours to yourself, enjoy!

I would not like to try to fit a whole Peep in my mouth at one time. I love them too much. I like to take my time with them! Happy near-summer, Stephanie.

So could to have you back in the thin ranks of Parker bloggers. Or should that be ranks of thin bloggers. Never mind. Welcome home. I think I can manage five peeps, or at least I used to when I was younger and had a more flexible jaw.
