Blog Entry 183 of 270 Average Joe. Not.
I was born, therefore I blog. I have a sense of the ridiculous and need an outlet for that. I can be serious too and love to write little stories about little known but important people and events. And I love wildlife and travel and will always try to share those experiences. I make things up (its called fiction) and am amused when readers are duped into believing they are true.

Art in the Park winners

The 6th Annual Art in the Park Show was held in Parkers O'Brien Park on Saturday and Sunday 25and 26 August. Over 100 artists set up their displays offering exceptional quality fine art to the public. The weather, for a change, was almost perfect for the occasion.

Organizing a show of this size, with more than 80 tents and 100 artists takes a great deal of dedication, time and hard work. Jerry Yarrison and his team of Parker Artists Guild member volunteers once again did a remarkable job. It is also a big commitment of time and work for all of the participating artists.

On Saturday morning, Lori Beckman, Connie Mohrman, Victoria Parsons and Barb Wilson, four experienced judges, began the difficult task of selecting the best in show and in each of four categories. After four hours of deliberation the results were announced, as follows:

Best of Show: Paul Valdez

Fine Art:
1 st - Fritz Anders
2 nd - Lyle Clift
3 rd - Julie Hasenfratz

Fine Craft:
1 st - Char Schutte
2 nd - Larry Fox
3 rd - Ymelda Kuyath

Photography:
1 st - David Gill
2 nd - Bruce Norman
3 rd - Joe McDaniel

Student:
1 st - Nicole Kane
2 nd - Taryn Nell
3 rd - Sammi Poster

People's Choice: (Chosen by ballots cast by visitors to the show)
Jackie Campbell

Generous cash awards, donated by sponsor Parker Station Professional Offices, were received by Paul Valdez and Fritz Anders. One piece of art from each of these talented artists was selected by Justin VanLandschoot to be displayed at Parker Station Professional Offices, 19751 E. Mainstreet
( http://www.parker-station.com/). A "Sponsor's Choice" selection of a two-piece panorama photograph by Joe McDaniel was also chosen for display. The art will be available for viewing and will be sold by Silent Auction Bid between September and December. Proceeds will benefit Parker Artists Guild to help with art programs and workshops.

Pay a visit to Parker Station Professional Offices to view this art in the front office street level window. Details on how to go on-line and submit a bid will be posted there. This is an opportunity to purchase fine art and benefit the local art community. For more information contact Justin at info@parker-station.com.
