Cindy Galasso, former coordinator of the Mainstreet Center, visualized it as a developing cultural center, in the hope that the community would eventually see a new facility in Parker. This vision continues to be shared by the Town of Parker and International Artist
Tadashi Hayakawa. Together they continue to organize creative art programs at the center.
A Mainstreet Mural (see photo) was created by over one hundred local children and adults in 2006. They also spent the last two years encouraging budding young artists at several area schools through enrichment, informal instruction, and exhibition of their art at Mainstreet Center.
New coordinator,
Denise Zoglmann, pictured here, and Tadashi are continuing this effort for the coming year. In February they will prepare an exhibition of artwork by students of Eaglecrest High School. Participating students will enjoy having their work displayed through the month of February. They and their invited guests will attend an opening reception at Mainstreet Center on Wednesday, February 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The reception is being held in conjunction with Parker Artists Guild (PAG) to commemorate the opening of their February Art Show, "Four Seasons." Members of the public are invited to join Eagle Crest High School student artists and Parker Artists Guild members at the Mainstreet Center, 19650 E. Mainstreet, Parker for this opening.
If your school is interested in arranging an exhibit of student art at Mainstreet Center, please contact Denise Zoglmann, facility coordinator, at 303-805-7728.
