The return of spring always means the Annual Spring Art Show can't be far behind. Members of the Parker Artists Guild begin preparing for this Parker event six months in advance. The 2008 show, held at Parker's Mainstreet Center on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, is bigger and better than in its previous three years.
Show committee chairman
David Bahm says that booths and exhibits will be expanded this year to include the gymnasium, both art galleries, and two classrooms. The Parker Historical Society will be hosting a "Turn of the Century" classroom exhibit, upstairs, for the public to visit. The Parker Mainstreet Center is the town's original 1st to 12th grade schoolhouse, built in 1915. A fascinating historical classroom is preserved and maintained in the building by members of the Parker Historical Society.
More than 40 local artisans will be exhibiting their original work for sale. Media represented includes painting in a wide variety of media, photography, drawing, pastels, pottery, jewelry, wood working, glass, sculpture and more. In addition to the visual arts, the Parker Arts Council will provide musical entertainment in the auditorium on Saturday afternoon. Refreshments and soft drinks will also be sold both days. Admission is free and a free PAG shirt will be given away each day in a random drawing.
Are you feeling lucky?
