Harry Potter and the town of Parker

It's been almost a month since I've posted a blog in Parker, because I'm now continuing my blog in Denver, having retired just recently from my job at YourHub.com, where I covered Parker, home of my parents and once my own homey locale.

I'd be flattered if you were to continue to follow this blog in Denver. Entries might pop up in Parker sometimes, if visits to my parents or Castlewood Canyon inspire them.

I thought I ought to let Parker bloggers and browsers know that I've written a blog/book review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (well, the first 32 chapters, any way ... I've since finished it and had only a few more things to say ...). You can read it here.

A lot of folks have complained about the epilogue ... I'm not sure where I stand.

I finally finished it over the weekend (that's what I spent Fri and Sat night doing, cuz I was working all weekend). I have to admit the middle of the book was a little depressing, and drug on at bit for me, but I am happy Harry didn't die -- I kind of expected him to, and I still would have liked it if he did -- but I thought the way it happened really showed the triumph of good over evil. The epilogue was a little gushy, but still fun.

Egads!!! I'm not reading any of these comments or anything more till I finish it! I saw Rowling on TV this morning and in less than 30 seconds she gave away more than I wanted to know-and enough to dread chapter 34!!! I'm a slow reader-put up warnings! (I will return in several hundred pages...)

Yes, yes. An intermission is called for. Or the first half of the book could maybe be shortened? Or Gringotts gets left out ... I don't think they showed Gringotts at all in the first film, did they? Thanks for the comment.

Bought it, took Sunday off, locked myself in the house, read it straight through. Now finished, I've traded in my What Would Dumbledore Do? bracelet for a What Would Neville Do?. Rowling's comic timing is priceless in areas: Kreecher with a pan, Hagrid's 'Support Harry Potter' party, etc. I wanted Harry to die too. It just makes good story. But Rowling pulled off final chapters with an eloquence that I never expected. Good show! Now to wait several years for the four hour movie where I hope "Intermission" is resurrected.
