Blog Entry 154 of 194 Dial 'T' for Tabitha
I'm a bicycling poet who lived in Parker for several years and worked at YourHub.com, covering Parker and Franktown for two years.

I am studying poetry at CSU in the Master of Fine Arts program ...

I hope you can post a comment or two and that you will enjoy my blogs.

Who posts something online without wanting a response?

... Thanks for the read.

Teen Poetry Jams to come to DougCo libraries
Contributed by: Douglas County Libraries   on 4/3/2007

Blogger's note: In support of National Poetry Month, I think it's only fitting that I share this press release from Douglas County Libraries (I hope to be at Parker Library for their slam). If you're going to be at the slam, please post your photos and your poetry from the event on YourHub.com. I am happy to help at 303-954-2362.:

Speak your mind, share your words... It's a free-for-all opportunity to express yourself through spoken word. Share poems, sonnets, haiku, raps, rants, ballads, limericks, or speak off the cuff- no topic is off limits. There are only three rules: perform your own work, finish in three minutes or less, and no props or costumes.

All performers will be rated by the audience on a scale of 1-10,and receive feedback forms at the end of the evening. Participants are encouraged to keep an open mind, perform, judge, and keep itlight and fun. Ages 12-18. Free; registration required

Best of luck with that, Steve. Sometimes all you need to do is run with an idea and write non-stop for five minutes, even if you're just writing "This is silly. What am I doing? Write, write, write about my cool idea." Then you can take your favorite ideas and lines and shape that into a poem. Or maybe try another idea.

Poetry is a great outlet of expression. I especially found poetry helpful throughout high school. I've had a bit of a writer's block in that area for a while now, but I hope to pick it up again soon.
