Blog Entry 3 of 8 The Secret Step Two
Have you seen The Secret movie or read the book? What did you think? Have you visualized a specific goal? Has your visualization manifested? No? Are you having doubts about The Secret? Most of us who watched or read The Secret concentrated on the Law of Attraction and the visualization process. We missed, or flat out ignored, the "Rest of the (Secret) Story". For the Law of Attraction to work, you must be congruent in your conscious and subconscious minds. By that I mean, there can not be any conflict between your desires and beliefs. Quite often we will desire a specific outcome, but our subconscious mind will sabotage us if it doesn't agree or thinks that the vision isn't possible. For example, say you want financial abundance. You formulate affirmations and recite them daily. But, as you are saying them, you have this little uneasy feeling, like you don't REALLY mean them or deserve abundance. Why? You may have a subconscious belief that money is bad, that you aren't good enough, that you don't DESERVE money. With that unresolved conflict, there is no way you will ever succeed. You must change your subconscious negative programming. There are many alternative processes that work: Hypnosis, Energy Psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming, and others. If you want to change your life, change your inner programming. I can help you make the changes you want to make. Call me at 303-884-3566, or email me at John@ommtech.com.

8 Steps to Success
Contributed by: John Garrett   on 3/31/2008

Success. What does it mean to you? Is it financial independence? Is it being "comfortable?" Is it personal or professional accomplishment? Is it a wonderful relationship? Is it having your children grow and prosper on their own? Is it doing what you want to do? Is it having no regrets about your life? Is it feeling good about yourself? What? How do you get it? Following the following program:

Step 1: Your Vision

The first step is to determine what your vision of Success is. That is all that matters. It is what you want. What your criteria is. You decide, not someone else.

To give yourself a clear goal to work toward, find a quiet place, away from all distractions. Turn off your telephones, radio, television, anything that could distract you. Assume a comfortable position and think. Think about what you want to do and how you will know when you succeed. Write it down in as much detail as you can. In this vision, what is your career? What line of work are you in? Where do you want to end up? What kind of family life do you have? Children? Pets? Where do you live? What kind of house do you have? What type of vehicle do you drive? What color is it? What do you do for fun and relaxation? What "toys" do you have? Describe your ideal life. Write it down.

Step 2: Develop an Action Plan

Evaluate your vision and break it down into smaller pieces. Prioritize the different parts of your vision. Once you have done that, write up your Action Plan for the first item on your list. Give yourself a time frame for each step. Itemize the processes you will use. Describe how you will know when you have accomplished each step. Who will be your accountability partner? What does the partner have permission to do if you don't accomplish a step in the time allotted? How will you reward yourself when you finish each step?

Step 3: Evaluate what you have done before.

Select the most recent incident where you did not achieve the outcome you wanted and expected. Examine the incident from inception to the ultimate end. Write down the answers to the following questions:

1. How did I come up with the idea?
2. What was the ultimate goal?
3. How did I start to work on the project?
4. What plans did I make?
5. What steps did I take?
6. What was successful?
7. What didn't work out like I wanted it to?
8. What went wrong?
9. How did I react at that point?
10. What were my thought processes at each step of the project?
11. What were the main thoughts I held in my mind?
12. Why did I do that?
13. Why didn't I do something else?
14. What was I thinking?
15. How did I come to make that particular decision?
16. What did I say to myself?

Once you have the answers, analyze them. Figure out what happened and what your role was. Determine your motives. Think about your mindset when things went right and when things went wrong. Make a list of all the positive and negative things you did. Make a list of all the statements you made about yourself. Is there a pattern? Could you have done some things differently? Do you think the outcome might have been different had you had a different attitude? A different expectation? A different sense of self?

Step 4: Determine your pattern of behavior

Examining the answers to the questions in Step 3, make a list of the negative statements, beliefs, and attitudes. Before you can succeed, you must eliminate the negative influences on your behavior. There is a saying, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result."

If possible, work to find the basis of these negative beliefs and attitudes. You will have to change the way you think, speak and act. This is the negative side of the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction itself is neutral, but if you think and speak in negative terms, that is what you will attract. If you think and speak in positive terms, you will attract the positive aspects of life. The Law doesn't "care." It has no judgment. It just is.

Step 5: Eliminate negative beliefs and attitudes

How do you do this? There are a number of techniques available to help you make the changes in your life. I recommend the following:

a. Alpha State Reprogramming: a type of guided meditation where you visualize eliminating negative beliefs and replacing them with positive beliefs.
b. Energy Psychology Processes: Thought Field Therapy or Emotional Freedom Technique, processes where you tap on energy meridian points while concentrating on the cause of an emotional upset.
c. Personal Power Reintegration: Neuro-Linguistic Programming Power Point technique where you recall the mental and physical feelings you had when you experienced a successful incident in your past. You build on those feelings and recall them when faced with a situation when you need to operate from a position of power and confidence.

Step 6: Establish and Reinforce positive beliefs and attitudes

Using the processes in Step 5, you can establish and reinforce positive beliefs and attitudes. In addition, using the following will also help develop a positive outlook and expectation:

a. Masterful Question Formation: Ask yourself open ended questions that bring a specific topic to the forefront of your brain. At that point, you will be more aware and more likely to recognize opportunities to accomplish you goals.

b. Kinesiology: Muscle test for belief statements or actions you may be contemplating. Your energy system is constantly sending signals to various parts of your body. When something is of a benefit to the system, the energy flow is strong. When it isn't a benefit, the energy flow is weaker. Thus, when you test for a belief, your system will tell you if it is true or of benefit to you by sending a strong signal to the muscle you are testing. Conversely, your system will send a weaker signal if it is a negative.

Step 7: Activate the Law of Attraction in your favor

The Law of Attraction states that what you think about, you attract. But, there is more to it than just thinking positive thoughts. Everything you say. Everything you think. Everything you believe. All affect the Law.

Let's say that you make a mistake and you say, "I always mess up! Everything I touch goes bad. I can't do anything right. They were right, I'll never amount to anything!" The Law, being neutral and always delivering what is asked of it, gets these signals and delivers: You'll mess up, things you touch will go bad, you won't do anything right, and you'll never amount to anything.

Or, you want to make a great deal of money. Your conscious mind starts thinking of making money. You work hard, but just can't seem to close the deals. You sometimes sabotage yourself, and then wonder why you did that. What is happening is that your conscious and subconscious beliefs and desires are not congruent. Which means that your subconscious and conscious beliefs do not agree. You want to make money, but you grew up being told that, "Money doesn't grow on trees. We can't afford that. Rich people are greedy. Money is the root of all evil. What makes you so special? Who do you think you are?" The Law, getting mixed signals from your conscious and subconscious minds, does nothing because it doesn't know what you really want.

You must develop the habit of thinking and speaking positively. You must focus on the positive aspects of life, both personal and professional. You must change your thinking. Determine what your core beliefs are and change them using the tools mentioned earlier. It is that simple, and that hard. Your internal and external beliefs must be congruent. And when the signals you send to the Law of Attraction are in agreement, it will know what to send your way so that you can manifest your goals.

Step 8: Take Action

Regardless of what you may have heard, just thinking about success is not enough. You must act! Sitting around wishing for something won't work. In law enforcement, we were taught to take an action, any action, rather than sit still. If you don't take an action, you won't get a good result.

It has been suggested that if you spent just 10 minutes a day concentrating on your vision, seeing yourself succeeding, imagining how it will feel to be successful, revisiting the times when you were successful, and then visualizing taking the action necessary to accomplish your goals, you will succeed beyond your wildest dreams.

One final suggestion: when you concentrate on your vision, always end with the statement, "All this, or something better!"

Good Luck, better yet, make your own luck!
