Blog Entry 4 of 4 Prime Issues Affecting Parker Parents
Content focus of this blog is anything that affects parents raising children in the Parker area. As I have two teens, I will be writing about things like what to do on Friday nights, various experiences at 20 Mile theatre, and good places to buy EVERYTHING. But, I want this blog to serve all parents with kids of all ages, so, please, Parker parents, feel free to share your stories and perspectives!! :)

Really just one HS football stadium for all of DC?
Contributed by: Denise Regan   on 7/30/2007

My oldest son, who was educated in Ohio for his Middle and High School years, just returned from Ireland where he received his Masters Degree.

He said to his youngest sister, who is a sophomore at Chaparral, "How come there are no bleachers for your football field? Where do the parents and fans sit?"

To which his sister explained, there is only ONE FOOTBALL STADIUM for the entire district located in Castle Rock.

My son, referencing the growth and development of Douglas County, the tax base, and that, despite the fact that Ohio K-12 education is still funded by levies and yet every high school has their own stadium for sports, scratched his head and asked me...

"Why is that, Mom? Why is there only one stadium for football in the entire school district"

I had no answer for him.

Do you, Douglas County School district?
