It seems my blog has an underlying theme: food.

A lot of the reason behind that is that food is easy to photograph-- it doesn't (typically) make sudden movements or glare back at you with redeye. And it doesn't ask that you not take its picture.

This weekend I went to the store and the Girl Scouts were out selling their cookies. Of course I bought one box each of my favorites: Tag-a-longs, Samoas and Thin Mints.

On the way home, I thought, "Wow... wouldn't crushed up Thin Mints be amazing for a cheesecake crust?"

The cheesecake crust in question was my birthday cheesecake, which my boyfriend made that afternoon.

When I got home and placed the Girl Scout Cookies next to the box of chocolate graham crackers that was soon to contribute its deliciousness to my birthday cheesecake, I decided that simplicity was best.

Leave the cookies to being cookies.

After all, the birthday cheesecake featured beautiful strawberries, which just wouldn't have tasted too great with mint-chocolate cookie crust. Check in to my blog tomorrow for pictures of myself with said birthday cheesecake.

And why do I mention red velvet cake in my headline?... Dad made my grandmother a red velvet cake for her birthday-- a tradition he began a few years ago. My grandmother's birthday is the day before mine and we all celebrated at Maggiano's Little Italy this weekend.

And he brought the cake.

It's more than the Girl Scouts who are delivering yummy treats right now...
