Blog Entry 24 of 264 Average Joe. Not.
I was born, therefore I blog. I have a sense of the ridiculous and need an outlet for that. I can be serious too and love to write little stories about little known but important people and events. And I love wildlife and travel and will always try to share those experiences. I make things up (its called fiction) and am amused when readers are duped into believing they are true.

The Refrigerator - great place to store cash.
Contributed by: Joe McDaniel   on 7/12/2006

The McDaniel family refrigerator, pictured here, like those of millions of others, is covered with magnets. These days it is a billboard for the latest grandkid photos, family portraits, the Broncos Football Schedule, pretty little souvenirs from our travels and many other things.

When there were teenagers in the house (five) it was also the principal message board for important announcements - "supper will be ready at 7 p.m." or " A.J., where did you put mom's car keys?!"

It was the logical place for messages because, as everyone knows, the refrigerator is a teen magnet. Many teenagers have been known to avoid starvation by spending time removing prodigious amounts of food from the refrigerator. There is no better place in the house to leave a message for a teenager than on the fridge door.

The refrigerator can tell many stories and holds many memories. It also keeps food from spoiling, makes ice, and provides the gentle hum in the background of our daily humdrum lives. When visitors come , the first place they often want to go is the kitchen; not to get a drink, but to see if there are any new pictures on the fridge. The fridge can be a great conversation starter.

The refrigerator is no longer a mere kitchen appliance. It is a vital, multipurpose, tool for our busy 20th century lives. Its uses seem endless. One U.S. Congressman, from Louisiana, has even found the freezer unit useful in storing an excess $90,000 in cash. Wish I had thought of that. I have $26.00 saved. Think I'll put it in the freezer.

Hello, this is Joe's refrigerator. Joe's gone and the answering machine is broken. Leave a message, and I'll tape a note to myself.
