Making Lucy/Rhoda/OtherName pay

When my dad saw my blog about my new bike, he had a couple things to say. He had to tell me I looked rather fetching in my bike helmet and he was happy for me.

He also said something about how he was pleased that I loosened my purse strings (finally...) to purchase my darling little Electra Townie 21 commuter, aka, Lucy or Rhoda or whatever I officially, unabashedly call my bicycle.

Loosen my purse strings? ::ahem:: Yes, I once pinched pennies so hard I made them squeal, as my brother can tell you.

But I've changed and have spent money on things I've really wanted. Exhibit A, anyone?

But yes, I'm still rather cost-conscience. I've been keeping track of the money I estimate I've saved by using a bicycle instead of my Jeep to get 'round.

My receipt for my two-wheeled beauty reveals that a total of $437.57 was spent on her, my bike helmet, water bottle holder, tire slime, front and back lights and bike lock.

My messy log of money believed to be saved by pedalling to work says that I've saved $112.50 since I started biking to work on May 8.

I have $325.07 left to save in order to break even. So that means, at this pace, in approximately three months, I'll start making money on my baby blue investment.

Joe, If you look closely at the picture of Tabitha's savings log, you can clearly see an image of Mary Magdalene playing pinochle with the apostle Peter.
