Blog Entry 39 of 194 Dial 'T' for Tabitha
I'm a bicycling poet who lived in Parker for several years and worked at YourHub.com, covering Parker and Franktown for two years.

I am studying poetry at CSU in the Master of Fine Arts program ...

I hope you can post a comment or two and that you will enjoy my blogs.

Strawberry Shortcake had the sweetest house!
Contributed by: Tabitha Dial, YourHub.com   on 3/29/2006

And I loved playing with, over and through it!

I'm talking about the 1983 Strawberry Shortcake Doll House I played with as a kid-- as soon as my legs were long enough, I discovered that sometimes it was huge fun to just sit on top of it. I am sure I pretended I was riding a horse, since the roof is kind of shaped like a saddle.

These memories were brought on by a post a Littleton YourHub.com user Jared Keller posted about his e-Bay purchases of nostalgic toys.

A very fun subject. And we've posted our comments about what toys we remember from our childhood here at YourHub.com world headquarters.

What toys do you remember from your past? Please post your childhood memories.

My grandpa worked in a rubber factory (they made tires...get your mind out of the gutter). Every batch of rubber they made had to be tested and so they would form a 1 x 1 x 2 inch block. When they were done testing it, the workers would take the blocks home for their kids to play with. My mom ended up with a large box of these and the possibilities were endless of what I could build with them. Figured out that you could make walls stronger by staggering the blocks instead of just stacking them on top of each other. Sometimes the simplest toys are the best.
