Hey guys. I'm Lauren and I'm a 9th grader at Ponderosa. I'm into theatre, piano, dance, and I run Cross Country and Track. I also like photography and I kind of like making movies too. Yep... that's pretty much it!

My Fall Break!!
Contributed by: Lauren Wood   on 11/12/2006

When Fall Break came I was VERY (yes, all caps) excited! I couldn't wait to get out of school! During Fall Break my family spent Oct. 21-28 in San Antonio, Texas.
While in Texas we did a lot of things. When we first got there we just walked around andwent down to the riverwalk. It was verypretty.
The next day we went to Six Flags. I love ride roller coasters but I had no one to ride with so my mom had to bribe my brothers to get on them with me. They got over their fears and rode some of them more than once.
Monday we just walked around and checked out things around the city. We went to the Alamo and the Space Needle (it was really neat all the way up there). We also went into some weird tourist traps. One was a ride and a told a story about Davey Crockett (it was really weird) and Dan, Ben, my dad and I went into a Haunted House. It was pretty good.
The next day was kind of rainy, so we decided to go to the museum. It was fun. Especially the part made for little kids. There were a lot of cool things to play with. They had chairs that you sat in and you pulled yourself up a pole using a pulley. They also had a bunch of toys that you could make movies with by taking a bunch of pictures of them and moving them very slowly. It was a lot of fun.
I think my favorite thing was going to the animal park. You would drive through in your car and roll down your window and all different kinds of animals would come up to your car. You could buy bags of food to feed them with. The emus were pretty scary. My bag was on my lap and one of them grabbed the whole bag. Luckily it ripped so he only got a mouthful of paper. There were also ostriches, buffalo, zebras, goats and a lot of other animals.
One day we just walked around Market Square. San Antonio has a lot of Mexican influence so there were a lot of cool Mexican things and it was all decorated for Day of the Dead.
The next day was the zoo. It was fun looking at all of the animals. They had a small butterfly place, and butterflies would land on you. It was really cool. They also had a little place with birds flying around that you could go in. One landed on my sister but not on me.
On our last day we went to Sea World. I liked watching all the different shows. When we went to see Shamu, I sat close to the water and got completely soaked. I moved after I got splashed once. I also got to feed sea lions and dolphins. I got to pet the dolphins too! I had never done it before so it was exciting. They felt like wet rubber. It was cool.
The weather in San Antonio was pretty warm, so when we got back to Colorado it was freezing! I was also sad that I had to go back to school. But I was glad that I had a fun fall break.

Awesome, Lauren. Sounds like we both had a wild time the same week-- maybe you were being splashed by Shamu when Alex and I were getting splashed on a boat in Hawaii! Glad your brothers got over their fears. Me, I'm no rollercoaster fan.
