I heart New York
Contributed by: Ariana Marsh   on 8/13/2006

Waking up at 5:30 during the last week of summer isn't exactly how I planned on it being. However, since I was going to New York, it wasn't as big of a deal. On August 9 th, my friend Lauren wood and I left for New York for 4 nights during the last week of summer. The plane ride up there felt everlasting but once we got their It was great.

The first day we got there our room wasn't quite ready so we left our bags at the hotel and headed out to Times Square and central park. Central park was a lot of fun. Lauren and I rode the carousel and we all walked around looking at street art and neat pictures for sale. After the park, we headed over to my favorite spot in New York: Times Square. We walked around it for a while taking fun pictures and going to into small shops when we came a cross a huge dance store called Capezio. We both love to dance so we headed in. We had almost all of our things gathered up when they told us they were closing soon so we decided to come back the next day.

At 10:30 the next day after a great breakfast, we headed back over to Capezio. While there, I picked up two dance shirts, a leotard, dance shoes, new pointe shoe pads, and new dance shorts. It was fun getting new dance gear. After that, we walked around Times Square some more and went into this huge Toys R Us store and took a ton of great pictures. Then, we decided to buy a two day Double-decker bus tour pass. It was a lot of fun going around New York on the top of a bus with its many great sights. We also visited ground zero which was so sad. After that, we took a free ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty which was awesome. After the Ferry ride, it started pouring rain so we stopped for a w\quick lunch of hot soup. That night, we went to a performance of STOMP. It's where people take every day things and make cool beats and skits out of them. It was really neat.

The next day we took a new tour of New York with the same bus pass. It was really neat once again. We also went up to the top of the Rockefeller center and took fun pictures. It was so cool up there because you could see all of New York. That night, we had a great Italian dinner and then saw Wicked the musical. It was so good. Although our seats were far away, I still had a great time. After that, we were pretty tired but decided to still grab a bit of dessert at apple bees.

The following day was so much fun. WE went to a baseball game. It was the Yankees vs. the Angles. Lauren and I LOVE the Yankees so it was such a blast. It was incredibly hot at first, but cooled off later in the day. The game was awesome and was even better when the Yankees won, 5 to 2. That night we went to see the Broadway production of Tarzan. It was a little cheesy, but still was a lot of fun. The next morning, it was back home.

New York was so much fun over all and I know that is where I want to go to college and to pursue my career in dance. I love the city and the nightlife and think the busyness of it all is what makes it fun. I am so sad summer is ending!
