Douglas County Libraries wants your creative works

I'm always encouraging people to post their creative works on YourHub.com. Now we've got something wonderful to offer everyone who posts their creative works through June 30.

Earlier this year, Aspen Walker, community relations specialist at Douglas County Libraries contacted me with great news: Denver Poet Laureate Chris Ransickwill be touring Douglas County Libraries this June.

He'll be talking about mass media, technology and literature.

Aspen and I decided we should use Chris's tour of the county to encourage members of the community to share their creative work and receive prizes for their efforts.

You can start posting your artwork, photos, creative writing and essays in honor of Chris's tour around Douglas County today. There are three contest age categories: 11 and under, 12-18 and 19 and older.

What can you win?A Douglas County Libraries canvas book bag filled with tools and treats for aspiring poets, writers or artists.

I wish I could enter myself, because each bag will include a poetry book, blank journal, pen, CD case, Starbucks gift card, and some fun and surprising gifts from the library (these will depend on the age category. Potential gifts include Shakespeare mugs, garden kneelers, lanterns, carabeener flashlights, stuffed animals, hacky sacks, highlighters, hats, oven mitts ...

Bill, I don't know just when Chris will be touring up north. But please refresh this page and you'll find that his name will magically link to his own blog, which he often updates with the many things he does as Denver Poet Laureate. Thanks for stopping by!
