Print section 2.0
Contributed by: Travis Henry   on 9/25/2007

Below is the column that will be running in the Sept. 27 print sections announcing our redesign. We have moved to brand new presses, giving us a great opportunity to improve our print product. For now the Web site will remain the same. I'm hoping in the near future we can look at the site and give it a makeover too.

Here's the column:
_____________________________________________________________

Whether this is your first time reading YourHub.com or you are a seasoned contributor who helps tell your community's stories, I would like to welcome you to our redesigned local newspaper section.

We have added a little more color, tried to have a little more fun with design and even added a sudoku puzzle for readers who told us they pick up YourHub.com at local restaurants and want a challenge during lunch.

Starting this week our news section is now called logged in to better reflect our connection to the Web and the community. Our kudos section is reserved for your milestones including your anniversaries, engagements, birthdays or whatever else you want to brag about.

Our hubcap column reviews the Web site's best offerings and nextgen features our younger writers who post on www.yourhub.com/nextgen.

We hope the result is a cleaner section that is easier and more fun to read.
But, of course, that ultimately is up to you. This is your local newspaper section and it all starts on the Web.

For those new to YourHub.com, take a close look at the articles, photos and other items that make up this edition. The majority of what is included in this section comes from your neighbors who posted it online.

YourHub.com has been coined a "citizen journalism" Web site and newspaper section. What it means is it is up to the community to write the stories, take the pictures and congratulate locals on their milestones. We take the best of what is posted online and put them in these pages, for free. It's that simple.

If you have a story to tell, go online, post it and we will help you get it in print. If you need any help, we have an entire staff that would be happy to guide you through your first, second and third posting. We even will give you some editing advice if you want it. It's a lot of fun.

We are also a great tool for local businesses. We love business profiles, and for starting less than $50, local businesses can have an ad in this section that is delivered to home subscribers of the Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post, as well as local restaurants and shops. Call 303-954-7322 to book an ad today.

We have worked very hard to become a part of your community and we thank you for your support.

We couldn't do it without you.

Pick up a section Thursday and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Ah, Nikki. You are just saying that because I made you the featured profile on the homepages yesterday. But I still like to hear it. Jamie, you are a big part of what makes your print section what it is.

I saw last week's paper and was impressed. You mean it gets better? This is like Kwanzaa in September!
