Blog Entry 258 of 266 Average Joe. Not.
I was born, therefore I blog. I have a sense of the ridiculous and need an outlet for that. I can be serious too and love to write little stories about little known but important people and events. And I love wildlife and travel and will always try to share those experiences. I make things up (its called fiction) and am amused when readers are duped into believing they are true.

Be a travel writer contest news

If there's anything more fun than traveling, it's traveling and then writing about it. Since joining the YourHub.com community in February 2006, I have posted many accounts of road trips, cruises and African safaris. Now, after 250 blogs and 217 stories, it seems that writing about our adventures has enhanced the travel experience and has made us even more interested in traveling and sharing those experiences with others.

I have found that one of the best ways to share my trips is through photography. Many of my photos are taken with the idea that I will have to illustrate the text of a travel story. For example, I will often stand up in a restaurant and take a close-up photo of my food. This sometimes attracts attention but hey, no big deal. Friends often ask us, "how was the food on that trip?" Now, I have the tools to tell them and show them. It is much easier to write about a trip or a destination if I have good photographs of the people, scenery, wildlife, buildings, etc., on which to draw out ideas and jog the old memory.

For the past few months, I have been searching for an outlet where I could write about my travels AND share my photographs. I finally found one!

Viscape.com, a social marketplace and community for travelers and vacation home-owners is a perfect place to share travel experiences, opinions and photographs. It is going to be a wonderful resource for finding, renting, buying, or even selling vacation properties, planning your next vacation or deciding where you might want to retire. You can even list your own property, or find great tenants, and it is free. Right now, there are about 50 destinations highlighted, with new ones being added rapidly as the site gains in popularity.

If you are interested in travel, and especially if you are interested in writing about your favorite, or not so favorite, destinations, this is a perfect community for you. Go to www.Viscape.com to set up your profile, share your experiences and enter the "Be a Travel Writer" contest for a chance to win a trip to
Belize or Key West.

For the contest, you can select any destination to write about or review. You can write as many stories or reviews as you like - this will increase your chances of winning. Stories/reviews must be authentic, thoughtful and written from the heart. Viscape encourages you to complete a profile with interesting facts and background information. The review must be under 200 words and can be published directly to the Viscape website. Using photos or a video clip with you story will increase your chances of winning. Other site users can rate your review and their ratings will be considered by the judges. Contest updates will be available at http://blog.viscape.com.
