Inspire Creative announces their first production,
Fiddler on the Roof, opening the weekend of August 22, 23 and 24, 29, 30, and 31 at Parker Mainstreet Center and September 5 and 6 at West Bowles Church. All shows begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are reserved seating.
Fiddler on the Roof played on Broadway to rave reviews and is one of the longest-running musicals of all time. The story comes to life through the engaging book by
Joseph Stein, soulful lyrics by
Sheldon Harnick and memorable music by
Jerry Brock. For Tevye, a dairyman in Tsarist Russia, the old world collides with the new as he maintains that the old ways are best but revolution is in the air and the young start to make decisions on their own, sometimes even without advice from their parents. "Fiddler On The Roof has been my favorite musical for as long as I can remember. If you have never seen Fiddler before, you are in for a special treat," says director Gary Lewis. This is the story of love between men and women, a man and his past and the will of a family facing upheaval in their lives. It is a charming and touching story about finding the courage to embrace change during uncertain times. The heart-warming musical production features memorable numbers like "Tradition", "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Matchmaker" among others. The Tony Award-Winning production garnered honors for being the longest running musical in Broadway history (1972), Best Musical (1965), Best Composer and Lyricist among many others. "Fiddler on the Roof is one of those shows that most actors hope to be a part of because it is a meaningful, heartwarming story," shares
Beth Miller who plays Tevye's wife, Golde. "It has delightful music that you will be humming long after the show is over. It appeals to many ages and transcends time, speaking to the need to hold onto values such as the love of family, home and beliefs during times of change. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help bring this village of memorable characters to life."
Jim Ramsey, the show's musical director, shares that it is "absolutely one of my favorite shows of all-time from the music to the message!"
Christian Paetsch, the orchestra director, remarks, "I'm really excited to start off this new venture with Inspire Creative. Fiddler is a great musical that brings with it a story and history that people can relate to. With it we at Inspire will bring together many different communities." Hope Golden joins the show as choreographer with great anticipation since she feels that "dancing can make the smallest amount of joy raise up in the worst and best of times. Fiddler is filled with reasons to dance and it engages us all in the rhythm of life. You ask me why? Because it's 'Tradition'!" With a full cast, beautiful costumes and charming characters, the show is not to be missed. Some members of Inspire Creative will also be participating in the Highland's Ranch Fourth of July Parade
