Troop 88 literally rocks!!! One of the troop's many scout programs is climbing.
The troop has two fully trained BSA instructors. Whenever possible, the Denver Area Council's Climbing Director, Roger Gable (& former Troop 88 Scoutmaster), joins the troop in climbing activities. Several Eagle Scouts from the troop work at the Parker Field House's Climbing Tower.
This program helps introduce young men to climbing and rappelling.
Climbing is one of the few sports that exercises every muscle in the body. To reach a peak, climbers learn how to manage their physical strength, flexibility, and endurance. Rappelling is actually more dangerous, but definitely exhilarating. The experience helps build self esteem, and respect for following rules.
During Memorial Day Weekend, Troop 88 traveled to Vedauwoo, WY for a climbing camp out. This is one of the troop's favorite camps because each scout's family joins the troop. Vedauwoo features world-class climbing, mountain biking, and scenic views.
Troop 88 meets every Tuesday night at 6:30PM at the Parker Presbyterian Church (PEPC). 9100 E. Parker Road (East Main Street past Canterberry). You can visit our website at <http://troop88.org> for more information.
