Joe Skalisky was recognized at the annual Parker Expo/ Taste of Parker, held this year at The Wildlife Experience on September 15, 2007, when Parker Chamber of Commerce Director, Mr. Mark Dougherty of FirstTier Bank presented him with the 2007 Adkins Community Service Award.
This prestigious award is named after long time Parker resident and community volunteer, Mr. Jim Adkins and was created to recognize outstanding individuals who have demonstrated leadership in community projects and organizations and are involved in the betterment of the community through active civic participation.
The 2007 recipient of this award is Joe Skalisky. Joe has lived in Parker, first in 1986 and then again since 1995. He is a successful award winning Realtor with REMAX Alliance and has been voted the 'Best of the Best' Realtor in Parker four years in a row, 2004-2007. He has been involved with Parker Chamber of Commerce since 2001, is a current Director for the Douglas/Elbert County Realtor Association, is a Charter Member of the Parker Cherry Creek Rotary Club, a member of the Parker Historical Society, and a long time youth sports coach with the Parker Hawks.
Joe also is the third term President of the Parker Sunrise Lions Club, a big supporter of the annual Parker parades, and a volunteer with the 9Health Fair.
Many of you will recognize Joe from his long time association with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of America. Joe is the Scoutmaster of Troop 88 who meets at PEPC Church and provides valuable community service to the Town of Parker, The Parker Senior Center and the Parker Chamber of Commerce.
Local Parker resident, Jim Adkins, son of the senior Adkins who the award is named after, congratulated Joe and expressed how happy the family was that he was this year's recipient.
