Artists Team Up for Project Angel Heart's Cause

Local, regional, and national artists will donate more than $100,000 worth of art to this year's Art for Life event, to be held Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at Abend Gallery from 5-9 p.m. This year's auction is expected to raise $100,000 for Project Angel Heart's meal program, which delivers nutritious meals, free of charge, to people living with life-threatening illnesses throughout metro Denver and Colorado Springs.

The artist line-up includes nationally recognized feature artist, Robert Spooner, creator of the event piece titled "Kitchen Angels."
Other artists include: nationally recognized Quang Ho, Lu Cong, Kim English, Tim Deibler, Louis Recchia and Zoe Ace. More than 100 local, regional and national artists will participate in this year's auction, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Project Angel Heart.

"Thanks to all the artists who are donating artwork, Project Angel Heart anticipates raising $100,000 through Art for Life! This eventbrings together diverse artwork from some of our community's finest artists, along with exceptional hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, all benefitting a worthy cause," said Erin Pulling, Executive Director of Project Angel Heart.

"The success of Art for Life will help Project Angel Heart deliver over 400,000 meals to 1,700 men, women and children this year, free of charge, who are living with life-threatening illnesses. We thank the community of artists for their creative contributions and Project Angel Heart supporters for making this event possible," says Pulling.

The featured piece by Robert Spooner, "Kitchen Angels," will be available as a poster print with all the proceeds benefitting Project Angel Heart. The painting portrays kitchen volunteers preparing fresh broccoli for Project Angel Heart's ill clients.

"Initially, I wanted to paint the kitchen chefs, but after spending time photographing the volunteers, I became completely captivated by their commitment to the cause-it was truly inspirational," said Spooner.

Abend Gallery, located at Colfax and York in Denver, has been hosting the event since its inception in 2002. Rated 5280's readers' choice "Top Gallery", Abend is committed to showcasing prominent fine artists, with a special fondness for Colorado talent.
