Contributed by: joe skalisky on 1/10/2008

Parker Boy Scout, MICHAEL SKALISKY, age 17, of Troop 88 , was honored on December 30, 2007 at his Eagle Court of Honor.

Over 120 attendees and local dignitaries attended this very special event held at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church, PEPC, where Michael's Scouting accomplishments were recognized.

Parker Mayor, David Casiano,
praised Michael for his Eagle Award, his Eagle Project, and his community service; Former Colorado State Senator, Dr. John Evans, presented Michael with two special flags. Senator Evans presented Michael with a Colorado State Flag which the Senator had requested to be flown over the State Capitol Dome on Veteran's Day. He also presented Michael with a U.S. Flag which U.S. Senator Wayne Allard, had flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Michael's Eagle rank achievement.

Other local leaders in attendance included Douglas County Sheriff, David Weaver; Douglas County Deputy Sheriff Greg Wilson; and Boy Scout leaders: Richard Prince, Jeff Guard, Larry Lutz, Robert White, Frank Snow, and Ron Rose. Other guest speakers included, Lions Past District Governor Lonnie Farmer, and Parker Cherry Creek Rotary President, Mike Waid.

During the ceremony, Michael not only received his Eagle Medal, but was also awarded the Eagle Bronze and Gold Palms as well. Michael received his Eagle rank in April, 2007 and continued his Scouting leadership and merit badge work to achieve these coveted palms. Michael is scheduled to receive the Eagle's highest honor, that of being a 'SILVER PALM' on March 22, 2008.

Michael's Eagle project consisted of building ten wooden used eye glass collection boxes for the Lions Clubs in Colorado. These beautiful boxes can be seen locally at the Parker Adventist Hospital and the Parker Walmart Optometrist Office. In addition, Michael collected over 1,300 pair of used eye glasses for the Lions who distribute them through missionaries worldwide.

Michael Skalisky is a Senior at Ponderosa High School, will attend Colorado State University in the fall, and is a Parker Police Explorer. Proud parents are Barbara and Joe Skalisky. Brother Matthew Skalisky, 12, is also a Boy Scout in Troop 88 and sister Melissa Skalisky, 12, is a Girl Scout.
