An area nonprofit that makes and donates blankets for children who are seriously ill or traumatized is looking for volunteers to pitch in at an event this Saturday.
Make a Blanket Day 2008 will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 16 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 5761 McArthur Ranch Road, in Highlands Ranch. The event, sponsored by Project Linus, is expected to generate more than 200 blankets for area children, according to its founder,
Karen Loucks Rinedollar
.
No experience is required for volunteers who would like to help out, she said.
Rinedollar, of Parker, founded Project Linus in 1995 and has helped expand the nonprofit across the nation. Project Linus currently has more than 400 chapters and has donated more than 2 million blankets worldwide, she said.
"Most of the blankets from this event will go to area hospitals," she said.
Fabric and yarn donations, which are tax deductible, also are being accepted at the event.
