Pre-Trip
Tonight my dad is frantically trying to pack all of my outfits, my mom's clothes, and my eleven pairs of shoes into six suitcases. It isn't working too well, but I'm sure he will make it work!! Tomorrow morning we have to get up at five in the morning to go to the airport. Mom is freaking out wondering if the evening gown bag will fit into the overhead compartment!!
Day One
We got up to drive to the airport at 5 a.m. All of the suitcases are packed and we are on our way. In addition to our six suitcases, each of us has two carry-on bags. My mom got stopped at security for having nail polish in her carry on, but they let her keep it and just warned her for next time. When we got to the terminal, I decided to paint my toe nails, which I'm sure was a first! We got on the plane and flew to Orlando, Florida. When we arrived, we rented a car and were on our way to Disney World! That night we had pageant check in, orientation, and a little get-together for the queens. Then off to bed!
Day Two
WELCOME TO DISNEY WORLD! Today was our day in Disney. As a State queen, we won free passes for ourselves and one other person (my mom). We woke up at 7:30 a.m., met the Colorado queens in the lobby, and headed to the park! We rode on a couple of rides before I met up with Katarina, the Pre-Teen National queen and a few queens from other states and rode on all the possible rides with them. Have you ever waited in line for a ride at Disney? Not me that day! Katarina's dad is a K9 Police captain who got us in to every ride without waiting in line. He kept telling the ride workers that the queens had a parade to get to and needed to complete the ride as quickly as possible. He also arranged for us to be in a parade down Main Street in Magic Kingdom. Of my four Disney World trips, this was by far the best!
Day Three
Today started with a cookie and gift exchange, at 9:30 in the morning. Each state teen queen brought a small gift to give to everyone competing in the teen division. It was fun to go through my bag and see the variety of gifts I had received from every queen. That is really all that is on the agenda for today, but tonight are the optional competitions such as talent, actress, and speech which a couple of the girls and I are going to go watch, and after that, HOT TUB PARTY!
Day Four
Happy Thanksgiving! I woke up at 7 a.m. to get ready for the evening wear competition which oddly enough was at 9:30 in the morning. After the evening wear competition, my parents and I went to my cousin's house for a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner. It was nice to take a break from the hotel life and food. I came back at 2:30 to get ready to go to a National Awards program. After the National Awards Program, we had two hours of dance rehearsal. That night there was also a fun family event for Mr. and Ms. American. My mom actually got 3rd place in the Classic Woman pageant. Then once again, HOT TUB PARTY!
Day Five
Today was an open house in the penthouse suite sponsored by the eighty-year old President and founder of the American Coed Pageant. She is a charming lady and wanted everyone to practice their personal introductions and then have their picture taken with her. Later in the afternoon, we performed the opening dance number to a song from Hairspray and then dashed to put on our evening gowns for the optional competition finals where they announced the top five in talent, speech, model, and photogenic. It was exciting to be announced in the Top Five in Photogenic. After that, it was again off to yet another dance rehearsal. Following the rehearsal, it was time to go change into my interview suit. At 8 that night, we gave our twenty-second personal introduction in front of the judges and then had one-on-one interviews with each of them. For several weeks, I had tried to practice possible questions that they might ask but you just never know what they will come up with for questions. The judges were comfortable to talk with and I always enjoy that part of the competition. After interviews, I went with six girls to Downtown Disney and had dinner and just chilled because the bulk of the competition was now over.
Day Six
Today I woke up at 10:45! I finally got to sleep in because the first thing that I have to do today is dress rehearsal for the final awards presentation and that starts at two. Then from there is the National Pageant Finals at 3:00. At Finals, we performed the opening dance number and then raced once again to get on our evening gowns. My heart raced as they announced I got 1st runner up in Photogenic. (Dad will have to pack that trophy in one of our six suitcases!!) They announced the Teen Queen who is a college girl who represented Arizona. She was fun and outgoing and someone that will well represent all of the state teens. It was an honor to get to represent Colorado and I feel I grew as a person from the many activities being Miss Teen Colorado for the American Coed Pageant has presented for me. There are several months left before I crown the new queen and I hope during this time that I can continue to work in my community and State.
Day Seven
We had to get up at 4:30 (which was 2:30 Parker time) to leave for the airport. It is the Sunday after Thanksgiving and one of the busiest airline travel days. We were lucky to have an early flight which was on time and we were back to Parker by 11:00 a.m. I was ready for sleep in my own bed---and then back to the reality of school!!!!

Congratulations! Starstruck produces fine students---my daughter twirls and we have known Meredith for years and her dance combined with the twirling is amazing! Don't worry about any harsh comments you get. At least you are taking positive steps in your life and not out drinking and driving or on drugs!!!

So you cut line, made people who were already waiting wait even longer, just so that you could be in a parade? Way to set an example for others!!!
