Where Christmas is Only a Wish Away

I wrote this poem for my honors english 2 class at Ponderosa and submitted it to the annual Reflections writing contest. The theme was "My Favorite Place." I won third place in the contest and a 100 in the class. <3
Where Christmas is Only a Wish Away
Where flakes of snow dance gleefully,
Flitting about in a whirling ballet,
Where children bubble delightedly,
And Christmas is caroled throughout the day.
Where baubles and bangles in festivity gleam,
Nestled in embracing emerald girth,
Where the likeness of heaven in snow can be seen
In an angel brought to earth.
Where the world's poor and rich are one and the same,
Deemed in neutrality naughty or nice,
Where snow sprites spin in a glittering game,
And the homes are frosted in ice.
Where everyone gives and everyone gets,
Caught in a reeling blizzard of charity,
Where on every street corner a stage is set,
And monologues of joy echo candidly.
Where the world's tears are only of happiness,
Falling as rain for blossoms of love,
Where anger and pain are contentedness,
And a cooling hand soothes from above.
Where Christmas is only a wish away,
A kiss is in every heart,
Where even the Scroogiest frolic and play,
And every task is a lark.
Where reindeer on rooftops are merrily prancing,
The sleigh is filled to its bars,
Where the streets are filled with dancing,
And the sky is full of stars.

Awesome, Jaime. I'm impressed that you were able to keep up that rhyme scheme (that's hard) and you have such a sense of rhythm. But it shouldn't be that much of a surprise, because I know you love words. Great to see you here again. Please keep posting! Anyone have a Christmas poem or memory? Let me know how I can help you post at dialt@yourhub.com or 303-954-2362.
