If you want to help people less fortunate than you this holiday season, you need to look no further than the Parker Task Force Food Bank.
The Parker Task Force Food Bank (PTF) is looking for individuals, schools, businesses and organizations who would like to sponsor a family in the annual Christmas Adopt-A-Family program.
"The need is greater than ever this year with sponsors needed for about 275 families," said PTF Co-Chair Sam Humphreys. "It will be a struggle to reach that goal. We almost didn't make it last year, when we had 200 families."
One way that would help the PTF meet the demand is for members of various groups or employees of a business to get together to adopt a family, she suggested.
Adopt-A-Family sponsors are asked to donate Christmas presents and other items, including food and gift certificates, for specific families.
In addition to the Adopt-A-Family program, PTF volunteers also hope to be able to provide extra holiday food and food baskets for the clients and their families.
For more information about being a sponsor or providing extra food during the holiday season, please contact the PTF at 303-841-3460 or email

The holiday programs are just some of the services provided by the PTF, a non-profit organization operated solely by dedicated volunteers to provide short-term assistance to those in need in the Parker, Elizabeth and Franktown areas. The PTF includes an extensive Job Board, which lists local job and training opportunities, and a Resource Board that covers issues such as health and dental insurance.
