Douglas commissioners support Immigrant Day
Contributed by: Francis Miller on 5/1/2006

Although Douglas County has no permanent Mexican illegals, other than those passing through, county commissioners took the day off to support the protests and marches at the State Capitol. Commissioners also expensed payment for their costumes, which they felt justified in doing, because they can be used again on Cinco de Mayo, anniversary of the Battle at the Alamo, Day of the Dead, and Mexican Independence Day.

Word has it that one commissioner inquired of the Attorney General as to whether it would beOK to turn his vehicle into low rider.

County employees, dancing the polka to gourd rattles and wearing sombreros, danced on Wilcox Street to wish them bon voyage.

Mucho Gracias Senor Maxwell, Boland and Senorita Worley.
