In Pennsylvania there are hundreds of old wooden oil wells that sit out in secluded fields or forgotten deep in the shady woods. One day, as the sun was setting, and I was sitting on the wooden platform of my favorite old oil well in the middle of a meadow, playing my guitar, a beautiful girl came by on a horse. I'd seen her before, she was my neighbor Debbie Butter (yes like "I can't believe it's not butter") from about a half a mile down the road. Her grandfather owned a boarding stable and I had worked for him from time to time mucking stalls and hauling hay. Oh yeah, I had definitely seen her before because I had stared at her many times thinking how cool it would be to get to talk with her or hang out with her. Well to my delight and amazement she stopped and tied up her horse and came over and sat with me. I played a song or two as the sun continued to sink in the violet fire of the western Pennsylvania sky. Later, after it got a little darker I decided to play a prank so she wouldn't forget me. I told her I was a vampire, displayed my larger than normal canines and told her I needed to bite her in the neck. Oh yeah... I was smooth. Anyway that's how we met and my ruse must have worked because she didn't forget me. In fact we've been hanging out together since we got married over 30 years ago. She's still my best friend and looking back... that was the best day of my whole life.
