The Parker Area Historical Society will present its fifth annual Cemetery Walk at the Parker Cemetery offColo.83 just north of Mainstreet, Sept. 24 from1-3 p.m. Famous buried pioneers will "rise from their graves" to tell their unique stories of life in early Parker.
This year's spirits and actors will include
Frank Kime
, portrayed by
Stevan Strain
, owner of the Warhorse Inn Restaurant, who often entertained Kime at the restaurant;
Rose Stroh
recreated by
Marjorie Oliver
, who has performed various pioneer roles in past Cemetery Walks;
Carl Stroh
, a local rancher, reenacted by
Mike Nickerson
;
David Shaughnessy
portrayed by
Mark Como
;
Elizabeth Tallman
, fierce pioneer and writer, performed by
Marjorie Meyerle
; and
James Sample Parker
, who donated the cemetery land, portrayed by
Bill Mattocks
.
Ben Priest
, local historian, will provide background information at the entry station. Historical Society members will serve as guides and facilitators. There will be refreshments available and various historical publications for purchase. There is no charge for the event, but donations are gratefully appreciated. There is plentiful parking.
Mike Mulligan
, vice-president of the Parker Area Historical Society will spearhead this year's event, succeeding Nancy Gripman, who originally conceived of the idea. Look for the Mountain Man at the entrance of the cemetery. So mark your calendars and join the Parker Area Historical Society for its fifth annual "Day of the Dead" in Parker!

What a shame I already have plans for that weekend ... If anyone's going, please get lots of photos and post them as soon as possible.
