Paul Sitzmann, Troop 868's newest Eagle Scout

Paul Sitzmann, Troop 868's newest Eagle Scout, held his Eagle Court of Honor on June 10.

His Eagle Scout service project was a renovation of a portion of the Core Knowledge Charter School playground so that it would meet the Douglas County School District safety standards. A scout must earn 21 merit badges to achieve Eagle and Paul has earned 39.

Paul joined Troop 868 in February of 2001. He has camped 114 nights as a Boy Scout! Two events in his long list: February of 2002 he participated in the Camp Hale Klondoree which set the national record for the coldest BSA winter camporee at -26.4 degrees (below zero). In June 2006 he participated in a Bahama's adventure aboard a sailing ship for a week.

He is a Brotherhood member in the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts' honor society. He earned both of the Catholic Religious Scout Awards, the Ad Altare Dei and the Pope Pius XII.

Troop 868 has been sponsored by the Ave Maria Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 7880 since 1995.
