Lockers are annoying things. They are too small to put all of your school supplies in, but you can't help but feel they are just big enough for that one last book. Combinations are forgotten, Folders get jammed in the side, and sometimes (but just when you are in a rush)when opened, a small tsunami of everything you have stored inside for the past year- falls on your face. Like I said, Lockers- It's a love/hate relationship.
But still as I close mine for the very last time this Thursday, I can't help but miss it a little already. Because it's not just the last time I am closing my locker this year, but also for the rest of my high school career. And as I graduate on May 25th and walk across a stage to recieve my diploma, I know I am closing the story of my last four years in High School.
It's not just the locker either, of course. It's the teachers who have shaped my mind to think of bigger ideas than myself and who have molded me from a selfish, idealist freshman to a confident and wise(r) adult. It's the friends who I have made here. The girls who have become like my sisters, my confidantes and most importantly, my encouragers. The boys who have matured into men who respect and care about me. These are people I can count on.
It's the classrooms I couldn't wait to get out of and the senior parking lot I couldn't wait to get into. The lunchroom, the gym, the announcements each morning and the tardy bell that is always ringing just as I arrive through the doors.
And as I walk out these very same doors Thursday, I know I will most definetly miss the school that I thought I couldn't bear being in a moment longer. But, I will walk out with 4 years of knowledge and memories. And, that-will be it.
Thank you Ponderosa for four great years. I'm off to make you proud!
