Reported by Parker Police
DRIVER 'MISINSTRUCTED'
An officer responded to Burger King, 18811 Ponderosa Drive, at about 8:30 p.m. May 2 on a report of a drunken driver. A 25-year-old man said the driver of a gray Jeep Cherokee was weaving and nearly struck his vehicle. The 25-year-old said he followed the Jeep into the Burger King parking lot, where the driver nearly struck three pedestrians. Police followed the driver from Burger King and pulled him over at Jordan Road and Wintergreen Parkway. The 35-year-old Parker man smelled of alcohol and spoke with slurred speech. When asked where he was coming from, he said, "I just live right up here." He said he became "misinstructed" on his way home from Burger King. After failing voluntary roadside sobriety maneuvers, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
ALLEGED DUI DRIVER REMORSEFUL
An officer pulled over a motorist for weaving and failure to use turn signals at about 1 a.m. May 1 near Mainstreet and Parker Road. The 21-year-old driver smelled of alcohol and her eyes were bloodshot and watery. She said she was heading home from Tailgate Tavern, 19552 Mainstreet, where she "had one drink" an hour before driving. She failed voluntary roadside maneuvers and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. She reportedly said, "I had an uncle that got killed by a drunk driver when he was on his motorcycle. After that, I told myself that I would never drive drunk." She was later released to her mother.
WARRANT LEADS TO POSSESSION ARREST
At about 11 p.m. May 2, an officer observed an unoccupied vehicle in a parking lot on the 11300 block of Parker Road. The registered owner of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man, had a warrant out for his arrest. The officer contacted the man as he returned to his vehicle and informed him of the warrant. A search of the vehicle revealed a smoking pipe and a metal canister filled with marijuana. He was arrested for the warrant and possession of marijuana and transported to Douglas County Jail.
