Crime blotter: Soldier memorials vandalized

Soldier memorials slashed. At 7:15 a.m. July 27, officers responded to a home on the 8700 block of Hilltop Road. A 59-year-old woman told deputies she often puts out memorials in support of the troops overseas. Due to 10 previous vandalisms to her memorials, the woman told deputies she checks her property religiously. At 3 a.m. July 27, she said the memorials were fine, but when she woke at 7 a.m., she discovered someone ripped up three signs, slashed a banner, pulled her flag bunting down and broke a cross. The woman had eight items on display. The woman says she does not know who did this, but it has happened several other times as well, and she wants to press charges. Total damages are estimated to be $217.
