The North American Junior Young Rider Championships Return to Colorado

See Future Olympians at the Only International Equestrian Championship in North America

The CN North American Junior Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) Presented by Gotham North returns to The Colorado Horse Park July 29-August 5, 2008. The only international equestrian championship of its kind held in North America, the NAJYRC showcases the talent of young equestrians in the Olympic disciplines of dressage, eventing and show jumping, as well as reining.

These riders, ages 14-21, will travel from around the United States, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean Islands to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in what has become an important stepping stone to the Olympics, World Championships and other major international events.

"The North American Junior Young Rider Championships is seen on the résumé of numerous Olympic medalists," said show manager, Larry Langer, President of Langer Equestrian Group. "Riders like Chris Kappler, Karen O'Connor and Greg Best competed at this event before they went on to win their Olympic medals."

To participate, each rider must qualify to represent his or her country, zone, region or area at the championships and also follow the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) rules.

Langer continues, "Learning the FEI rules, which are used at the Olympics and other international events, is an important skill that these kids will use in the years to come. And most of these riders have not competed on a team before, so this is a very exciting experience for them."

For spectators, it's not only an opportunity to see elite riders and fantastic horses, but also a shopping extravaganza. Visitors will find jewelers, home furnishings, tack and saddlery, apparel, and many other equestrian-themed goods. You can bring a picnic and spend the day or enjoy the food that's available on the showground. Best of all, admission and parking are free!
