Flood Insurance Rate Map and Zone Information
Contributed by: Douglas County on 9/4/2008

Unincorporated Douglas County residents can request a Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Zone information from Douglas County's Engineering Division.

The following information is provided as a public service to Douglas County residents upon request:

· Whether or not a property is in a Special Flood Hazard Area shown on the current FIRM of Douglas County. Insurance prices vary depending on where the property is located in the Special Flood Hazard Area.

· Additional flood insurance data for a site, such as the FIRM zone and the base flood elevation or depth.

· A handout on the flood insurance purchase requirement that can help people who may need a mortgage or loan for a property in the Special Flood Hazard Area.

To make an inquiry, please visit http://www.douglas.co.us/publicworks/engineering/index.html and click on the Floodplain Information Request form in the "What's New" box on the right hand side of the page. A form may also be requested by calling the Engineering Division at 303.660.7490 or dropping by their office located at 100 Third St. in Castle Rock. The form can be faxed for your convenience.

Please note: This service does not relieve a lending institution from its responsibility of determining if flood insurance should be required as a condition of a loan. In some cases, if the property is too close to the Special Flood Hazard Area boundary, citizens may be advised that a FIRM zone determination cannot be made.
