The Cherry Creek Valley Rotary of Parker and Centennial Medical Plaza brought breakfast to seven South Metro Fire Rescue Authority fire stations Sept. 11, serving more than 100 firefighters.
Rotarians and employees of Centennial Medical Plaza delivered burritos, pastries and juice at 7 a.m.
"Yes, these guys are getting paid to do a job as even Chief Qualman pointed out
to me and they don't expect any additional acknowledgment for their services, stated Rotarian Wayne Markel.
"However...the firefighters are constantly prepared, training is ongoing, and a lot of
personal incentive is needed to stay sharp and continuously grow their skills in
firefighting and emergency medical techniques.
A purpose of this project is to show appreciation for the fact they are always ready to
risk their lives to save our property and lives and very seldom get recognition unless one of them is seriously injured in the line of duty.
We believe, acts such as this will boost their spirits and strengthen the relationship between the community and these wonderful men and women."
Ingredients for the breakfast were donated by Centennial Medical Plaza, SECOR, Panera Bread, and King Soopers.
