Commissioner Hilbert appointed to NACO Committee

Douglas County's interests will be represented during national-level policy debates on local government issues through the appointment of County Commissioner Jack A. Hilbert to the National Association of Counties (NACo) Finance Standing Committee, an advisory committee to the executive officers of the NACo Board.

Commissioner Hilbert has been appointed to a three-year term that will run through 2012.

In addition to serving as one of six appointees nationwide on the NACo Finance Standing Committee, Commissioner Hilbert will continue to represent the interests of Douglas County and all Colorado Counties on the NACo Transportation Steering Committee.

In his role as a NACo committee member, he will lobby members of Congress on important policy issues both in Washington, D.C., and in the district and state.

"In these challenging economic times, I am pleased to be at the decision-making table with national county leadership ensuring that Douglas County and all Colorado Counties are represented," said Hilbert.

The National Association of Counties is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States. Founded in 1935, NACo provides essential services to the nation's 3,066 counties. NACo advances issues with a unified voice before the federal government, improves the public's understanding of county government, assists counties in finding and sharing innovative solutions through education and research, and provides value-added services to save counties and taxpayers money.
