The Town of Parker is pleased to announce that Acting Police Chief David King has accepted the permanent position of Police Chief for the Town of Parker.
"I am extremely proud and honored to be a part of the Parker Police Department and to have been selected to fill this important role," said King. "I would like to thank the Police Department staff for their hard work and support during this long transition period. I look forward to working closely with the staff and Council to continue our Department's philosophy of keeping our community a safe place to live, work and raise a family," he added.
King has served as the Acting Police Chief since May of 2006. King has worked for the Parker Police Department for nearly 21 years, most recently as Police Captain.
"David was selected from a group of excellent candidates and went through an intensive testing, interview and background check process," said Town Administrator Jeannene Bragg. "I believe his unique combination of leadership skills and experience, as well as his commitment to and understanding of the Town of Parker, make him the ideal candidate to take our Police Department forward and to serve on the Town's Executive Leadership team."
In addition to nearly 21 years of law enforcement experience in the Parker community, King is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development (LEED) program and the Police Executive Research Forum's (PERF) Senior Management Institute for Police. King also attended the Supervisory Institute through Metropolitan State College, the Police Management Institute through the University of Southern Colorado and the DEA Drug Unit Commanders Academy.
King will be sworn in as Police Chief on Monday, March 12 at 5:30 p.m. in the Parker Town Council Chambers, 20120 E. Mainstreet.
