Deputies attend homeland security training

Two Douglas County Sheriff's deputies, Deputy Heather Mykes and Deputy Ed Seal, recently completed Homeland Security training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), located in Anniston, Alabama.

The CDP is operated by the United States Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and is the only federally-chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training facility in the nation.

Deputy Mykes and Deputy Seal have attended approximately 15 courses in Homeland Security between the two of them. Deputy Mykes is currently an investigator for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Deputy Seal is assigned in the Emergency Management Section of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

"These deputies are extremely dedicated to the safety and welfare of the citizens of Douglas County. The knowledge and skills that they get from these classes can be brought back to the other deputies that work for the Sheriff's Office. I am very pleased to have these deputies work for me", stated Sheriff David Weaver.
