DRIVER ADMITS TO DRINKING, SMOKING

An officer pulled over a motorist for a defective license plate lamp at about 1 a.m. June 1 while driving on Carlson Drive at Pine Lane. The driver, a 20-year-old Parker man, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. The man admitted to drinking four beers and smoking one "bowl" of marijuana approximately 1 ½ hours before driving. A search of the vehicle turned up a bong and a tin container with traces of marijuana. After failing voluntary roadside maneuvers, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and possession of paraphernalia.

POLICE HOLD LIQUOR LAW STING
On May 31, the police department held a liquor compliance operation. An officer sent an 18-year-old Police Explorer into Bamba Mexican Grill, 9771 S. Parker Road, in an attempt to buy alcohol, while the officer observed from outside. The 18-year-old ordered a beer, and the waitress asked to see his ID. She looked at it, handed it back and later returned with the beer. She was issued a summons for contributing to a minor. Also, an officer sent an 18-year-old Police Explorer into Yutaka restaurant, 11411 Twenty Mile Road, in an attempt to buy alcohol. The 18-year-old ordered a beer, and the waitress asked to see his ID. She looked at it, handed it back and later returned with the beer. She was issued a summons for contributing to a minor. She said she was shocked she had miscalculated his birthday.

DISTURBANCE LEADS TO DUI ARREST
At about 9:30 p.m. June 3, an officer responded to Twenty Mile Cinema, 18625 Stage Run, in reference to a disturbance involving 30 to 40 juveniles. Upon arrival, the crowd had dispersed. The reporting party stated one of the parties left the scene in a white sedan, and an officer observed a motorist driving a white Neon in the area of Dransfeldt Road and Plaza Drive and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, a 31-year-old Parker man, was found not to be involved in the incident at Twenty Mile Cinema, but he smelled of alcohol. He failed sobriety maneuvers and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
