It's not just Nigeria anymore -- add Russia too!

I just read Francis Miller's article about the Nigerian scam. I have recieved that one, too. But just yesterday I received a new one involving PayPal, an online payment site that is closely affiliated with eBay.

It is very unsettling to see more of these frauds pop up, and this one even makes the sad cry that he has been scammed by people he asked to help him! Boo Hoo! (not!)

And the other thing is the name he is using!!! Google "russian peter orlov"and see what you come up with... very inventive is this schmuck!

Most importantly I hope no one gets fooled by it. I have copied it below! BTW, I did XXX out his phone number, I don't want to be responsible for anyone trying this!
*******************************************************

Hello, my name is Peter Orlov and I'm a wholesale distributor, and
specialize in trading/exporting jewelry and furs from famous Russian
factories to US and Canadian small wholesalers.

Due to my inability to create a PayPal account myself (Russians are not
allowed to use PayPal), I'm compelled to seek cooperation with PayPal
account owners to collect payments from my US customers, and I'm willing
to pay 5%-10% for every processed transaction. My regularn transactions
are $10000-$15000 on average, and I have 2-4 transactions a week.

The problem I have is trust (I have been scamed few times in the past),
and that is why I will only review applications from VERIFIED PAYPAL
MEMBERS, because your VERIFIED status is my best warranty, and it shows
that you are honest and trustworthy person.

If you are interested in this offer, send your resume to my US toll-free
fax: +1 (888) XXX-XXX.
Don't forget to include your valid contact phone number (cell preferred)
and the best time to call.
This message has been sent from unmonitored mail box, and your direct
reply will not be received.

Sincerely,
Peter Orlov

Apparently "Peter Orlov" used my eFax.com number in his scam letter above. Now I'm receiving tons of replies to this. The email he shows in his letter is no good so I have no way of telling him to re-email these people hes trying to scam with the correct number. Guess I'll have to change my number! What is real scary is that the resumes that are being sent to me in reply to this scam are beautiful! I just got one this morning from someone whos worked at IBM for 20 years. There was also one from a teacher and another from an architect. These people have advanced degrees. I just can't believe it. I googled him and it looks like hes planted his seed on a few sites to look legitimate to the unsuspecting googler. I will do my best to track this guy down; most likely its not possible.

Thanks for adding another example to the story. Fran

Shouldn't we also provide Mr. Orlov with our SSN, checking account number and date of birth? I've been getting a scam request from a 'comcast' look-a-like asking for verification of my account information. Too bad the victims are often much dumber than the perps.
