Drummin' up funds
Contributed by: Erin Feese/YourHub.com on 7/12/2008

Several students from Chaparral High School's marching band spent their Saturday July 12 waving signs at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Dransfeldt Road, encouraging cars to stop by Richie's Express Carwash -- and hopefully buy a car wash coupon to support the band.

Drummer Jon Cales, 17, got the intersection grooving by playing a drum set during the fundraiser. The money raised will go to support the band's trip to Orlando, Fla., in March 2009 to perform at Disney World, said parent volunteer Kathy Cales.

During the fundraiser, the students sold 90 coupons and raised about $300.

Members of the community who wish to support the band can purchase coupons through July 31 by visiting www.chaparralband.org. The coupons are $11 and are good for one "Works" car wash.
