Through the years ... us and the Rockies
Contributed by: Mark Leikam on 8/9/2007

If there's one thing I can say about me and my gang, we are NOT fair weather Rockies fans.

From back in 1994 when my brother Craig and I attended some 40-50 games at the old Mile High Stadium, to the current pennant race that our Rockies find themselves in, we've been there.

That first game at Coors Field (with the replacement players)... so cool... we had a REAL baseball stadium! The first (brrrr) game with the major leaguers in 1995... Dante sent us home happy in the 14th inning!

The playoffs were thrilling, and Hideo Nomo's no-hitter at Coors Field in was impressive (kind of a rainy game, if I remember right?). Larry Walker's MVP season of 1997 was awesome, and being at the Home Run Derby & All-Star Game was memorable (that McGwire guy... he hits 'em pretty hard!).

Oh yeah... almost forgot about the year Craig and I and my good friend Mitch traveled to California and followed the Rockies up the coast. Was it San Diego where Andres Galarraga hit the 3 home runs in the same game?

We were all excited about every new pitcher we brought to Colorado... some worked out, some didn't. Heck, Mike Hampton went to the all-star game at a time when no one believed a Rockies pitcher would EVER do that!

Hey, times change... Brian Fuentes should be a fixture at the all-star game now, and Jeff Francis and others will join him in years to come.

My family's favorite team is the 2007 Colorado Rockies. My wife Kelly is always happy when it's Jeff Francis' or Aaron Cook's turn to pitch, and Craig and I love it when we get the ball to our outstanding bullpen in the 8th and 9th innings. Brian Fuentes has to be one of the top 5 relievers in all of baseball!

Benjamin, my 3-year old son, recognizes several Rockies players by face - okay, maybe we watch too many Rockies games on TV :-) - and claims to be "faster than Willy Tavares!"

We even snuck down to Colorado Springs a couple of weeks ago to check on the Sky Sox. The future looks bright with guys like Ian Stewart and Joe Koshansky hitting bombs, and Benjamin liked Sox the Fox almost as much as Dinger!

It would be great to treat my family and friends to a game from the suites at Coors Field, especially in the midst of the Rox trying to climb into the thick of the division/wild card race!

I've had seats in pretty much every part of Coors Field except the box suites. It would certainly be a privilege to invite my gang to share this cool experience and cheer on our favorite team from the suites at Coors Field.

Go Rockies!
