In this day in age it's easy to get caught up in the East Coast hype. Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, the list goes on and on but mention the Colorado Rockies and you're likely to have to carry this conversation on your own.
Does this team even exist East of the Mississippi? Even after a trip to the World Series it's hard to say for certain, but I for one am excited to have an All-American team we can get behind rather than another bandwagon to jump on. This team is as refreshing as a cold beer in July!
This organization represents itself with all-star class. No attention starved athletes with A. Rod sized contracts or Travis Henry empty promises. This is the real deal folks and they take it seriously. This team displays the kind of talent, teamwork and dedication it takes to get to the World Series, yet manages to remain humble despite the hype.
My friends and family are proud to have such a responsible team that positively represents not only Colorado but our younger generation of players and fans. In fact, when my little girl wears her Rockies jersey not a single player comes to mind that falls short of deserving that honor which is hard to say about most teams today.
In short, these guys are amazing athletes who deserve the same respect and recognition that they give to their fans. I will forever be their 2nd biggest fan losing only to my 90-year-old grandma who watches every game from her recliner in Goodland, Kansas and believes that missing a Sunday sermon is more forgivable than missing a Rockies game. This again just goes to prove that this team appeals to every generation, especially the young at heart.
