Parker Experiencing High Restaurant Closures

Parker has experienced several restaurant closures in the last few months due to the slowdown in housing market, and slow growth in Parker. The word on the street is "Parker would be the last place I would open a restaurant."
The industry assumed that there would be more people moving to Parker to support all these restaurants. That hasn't happened. This is what has closed so far, and it's probably not over yet.
Old School Burgers, Jock and Jill's, Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, Wendy's, Village Inn, LePeep, Nicolo's, Boston's, Boston Market, Quizno'sand Beau Jo's. Some have turned over already with new ownership.
I also heard that the local Chili's is not performing to expectations either. So if you have a favorite restaurant in town, and would hate to see it go, I would get out and support them.
This week everyone is getting that check from the government. Take a little bit of that and go out to dinner.
With the cost of food and gas increasing every day, the restaurant business is getting the squeeze.

I watched the Debates of the Candidates for Town Council for Parker yesterday.. It's posted on my blog now. http://parker-colorado.blogspot.com And a woman that is currently on the council was asked about this. She said that the towns tax revenue from restaurants has barely changed! I found this surprising with all of these restaurant closures... but when you really think about most of them, they were sub par, over priced, mismanaged, not advertised or their overhead was WAY too high (Jock and Jills). She said the conclusion was that Parker Folks are just very discerning eaters and if they are going to spend their money going to local restaurants, they are going to find the best.
