The

's fall brochure will be mailed to local households the week of Aug. 8 and seniors will notice several changes to the senior fitness schedule.
The biggest change in the schedule is to Senior Fit, Wednesdays from
noon
to
1 p.m.
For the fall, Senior Fit will offer six week rotations of trial classes designed for the fitness needs of people 62 and older.
The first rotation is Tai Chi, scheduled for Aug. 3 through Sept. 7. Randy Weekley, owner and instructor of Ninpiden Dojo in Parker since 1992, has generously volunteered his time to instruct this new senior class at the

Center
. Tai Chi is one of the oldest documented forms of Chinese martial arts, dating over 1,500 years. Now a popular fitness exercise, tai chi improves strength, flexibility, balance and mental focus through a series of flowing poses.
Six weeks of Pilates, Sept. 14 through Oct. 19, will follow the Tai Chi rotation. From Oct. 26 until Nov. 30, seniors will try out a Muscle Conditioning class designed with their specialized needs in mind. "Once the seniors try all the different classes," says Fitness Coordinator Kim Bailey, "We will gather input from them regarding the classes they would like to see offered in 2006."
There will also be minor changes to the rest of the senior fitness schedule beginning in August. SilverSneakers orientations will still be offered on Mondays from
11 a.m.
to
noon
and SilverSneakers I continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
noon
to
1 p.m.
SilverSneakers II is now offered twice per week, Mondays from
noon
to
1 p.m.
and Fridays from
11 a.m.
to
noon
. Gentle Yoga is also offered on Fridays,

to

The above classes are included with
