Healthcare and GO AutoNation, to be held at The Wildlife Experience in Parker on Friday, Feb. 16,at 11:30 a.m. in an effort to align with the 21st annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Over 100 athletes from local middle schools and high schools, as well as a dozen past players and coaches will be honored at the luncheon for their current and past achievements in sports in Douglas County.

Chartered by the US Congress in 1986, the purpose of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day is to honor female athletic achievement and recognize the importance of sports and fitness participation for all girls and women.

The Douglas County Girls and Women in Sports luncheon, an event of the Douglas County Educational Foundation and Douglas County School District, will mirror the national event as it focuses on past and current sports achievements, the positive influence of sports participation and the continuing work for equality and access for women in sports.
